Sailing is about nature- so what could be more natural than combining a relaxing sail at the pace of life from 100 years ago, with an expert Naturalist and Historian to provide you a unique insight into the local wildlife, environment, folklore and rich history of our favorite corner of the Sunshine Coast?

Florida Winter 2010 / 2011:

The Kathleen D has partnered with Around the Bend Nature Tours, LLC to provide us their company founder as your Naturalist and Historian on these relaxing and educational Sunset Sails from either historic Bradenton or Cortez, Florida.

The Kathleen D's sailing grounds are filled with history and wildlife. Native cultures, european explorers, local peoples and countless animals have called these waters and lands their home since Florida first rose out of the sea. Our Naturalist / Historian Karen Fraley will fill in the blanks for us on these very special Sunset Sails.

Our Manatee River Tours depart from our Bradenton base at Twin Dolphin Marina, at the foot of Old Main Street on the historic Bradenton Pier (now home to Mattison's Riverside Restaurant) on select Friday evenings each month.

Special Thursday afternoon Sails depart from our historic Cortez location at the Seafood Shack Restaurant adjacent to the Cortez Bridge directly across from Anna Maria Island.

Please join us and share in the rich environment in which we will sail on our comfortable & modern time machine, transporting us from beginning to end- through the story in between- of our historic Florida home.

All seats cost $45. We always provide complimentary water, soda, ice and parking.

Thank you to the Monmouth County Park System for another excellent season of sailing and appreciating nature on Sandy Hook and Raritan Bays plus the Two Rivers district.

2010 Eco-Sailing Tour of Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay

(Ages 12 and up with adults)

All Hands Hoay!
Come aboard a comfortable 41-foot sailing catamaran, The Kathleen D, for a friendly 3-hour narrated cruise.
Explore the history and ecology of Sandy Hook Bay, Raritan Bay, and Lower New York Bay.
Experience spectacular views of majestic migrating birds flying overhead, and pass by historic lighthouses, old fishing villages, and witness breath-taking views of the New York City skyline from vantage points seldom seen by the general public.
This unique program is not to be missed!
The tour is open to only 17 people, so register early. Bring your binoculars and camera, and take something warm to wear, as it can get chilly on the open water. The boat will set sail down by the bay at the Monmouth Cove Marina, located near Port Monmouth Road in the fishing village of Port Monmouth.
